Construction 101
Published: June 10, 2003
| Seventy-five grade school students at Milwaukee’s Malcolm X Academy get an introduction to the building industry from Gert Grohmann (left), Associated General Contractors of Greater Milwaukee education director, and Jeffrey Metz, executive vice president of Oconomowoc-based MSI General Corp. The students spent Tuesday morning at MSI’s headquarters before visiting two of its work sites in the afternoon. The design/builder gave students a broad peek into job opportunities in construction, including everything from design to marketing to trades apprenticeships. MSI and AGC organized the event to attract more minority workers to the industry to make amends for MSI falling short of its disadvantaged business hiring goals on a project. Photo by Sean Ryan. |
