Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity wants to recruit women to build a new house in September for single-mother Joy Macon.

The habitat chapter has about a dozen women that show up regularly to work on projects, so it’s pulling together a female-only project to recruit more members, said Melissa Herguth, development director for the Milwaukee chapter.

The project at 3227 N. Richards St. in Milwaukee will last from Sept. 14 to 18 and will require about 20 volunteers a day, Herguth said. The project is intended to offer an opportunity for women without construction experience to get involved in Habitat for Humanity, she said.
