Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle on Thursday announced 10 state awards totaling more than $30 million that will be used to build freight rail-related facilities, and preserve and upgrade rail infrastructure.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will administer three loan awards totaling $3,382,944 through the Freight Railroad Infrastructure Improvement program, while seven awards totaling $27,213,138 will be distributed through the state’s Freight Railroad Preservation program.
The money is expected to support job growth and Wisconsin’s agricultural economy through further freight rail development.
