Transportation Development Association to meet Oct. 1 in Madison

The Transportation Development Association of Wisconsin will hold its annual meeting Oct. 1 in Madison.

The theme is Building Wisconsin’s New Economy. Among topics to be discussed are federal transportation financing and the potential for high-speed rail in Wisconsin and the Midwest.

Scheduled speakers include John Torinus, chief executive officer of Serigraph, Inc.; Bill McCoshen, executive director of Competitive Wisconsin; Jeff Solsby, director of public affairs for the American Road & Transportation Builders Association, and Randy Wade, passenger rail director of the Great Lakes Division of HNTB Corp.

Dane County budget to include health-care building

Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk’s 2010 budget will include money for a 24-hour mental health crisis center.

The Dane County Crisis Care Stabilization Center will have 12 beds and be designed for people at risk of psychiatric hospitalization.

Falk will introduce her budget to the county board Oct. 1. If the budget is approved, the county will issue a request for purchase to providers interested in building and operating the new facility.
