Report: Money short for UW energy-saving projects
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — According to a new report, lack of funding is delaying major energy conservation projects on University of Wisconsin campuses.
The UW System report states the easiest and cheapest energy-saving projects have been implemented, and more funding is needed to make additional progress.
The report recommends campuses seek money for projects through a $50 million state program and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The report also recommends schools implement a comprehensive energy conservation strategy that blends behavioral changes and improvements to buildings.
UW System regents are expected to discuss the report on Thursday during a meeting in Madison.
