The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is negotiating a contract for Zoo Interchange repairs with Milwaukee Constructors LLC, but has not awarded the project.
“Our hope is still that we can start work in December and complete by Memorial Day,” said Chris Klein, executive assistant to WisDOT secretary Frank Busalacchi.
The department last month bid the project to repair three bridges on the Zoo Interchange. The joint venture Milwaukee Constructors LLC sent in the only proposal on the Nov. 30 due date.
Klein said the department has evaluated the proposal and is now negotiating terms for a potential contract.
The department and contractor are discussing cost, schedule, materials and labor for the project, which Klein said are the typical points of negotiation for any WisDOT contract.
Milwaukee Constructors LLC is comprised of three companies: Edward Kraemer & Sons Inc., Plain; Lunda Construction Co., Black River Falls; and Zenith Tech Inc., Waukesha.
