PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (AP) — American Customer Care Inc. has told Wisconsin officials it will close its call center in Platteville by July 1, cutting 165 jobs.
The company notified the state Friday that layoffs will begin June 8 following the sudden loss of a large client.
According to the Bristol, Conn.-based company, it hopes to reopen the facility if it can find other business. Otherwise it said the closing will be permanent.
According to the company’s Web site, American Customer Care has more than 2,000 employees at 10 locations.
A message left at the company’s headquarters Saturday was not immediately returned.
Platteville is in the southwestern corner of Wisconsin, about 70 miles southwest of Madison.
