To celebrate its 120th anniversary in business, J.H. Findorff & Son Inc., Madison, wanted to share its good will with the community.

So it upped the ante on something many Findorff employees already regularly do: giving back. Findorff challenged its employees to volunteer at a total of 120 organizations in 2010.

The push already is benefiting nonprofit groups such as Habitat for Humanity, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee Inc. and the United Way, said Amy Recob, marketing manager.

There will likely be employees who go the extra mile and achieve 120 hours of volunteer service during the year, Recob said.

“We know there are employees who will exceed 120 hours personally,” she said. “That’s just the cherry on top.”

Many Findorff employees already were volunteering regularly, but the 120-year anniversary goal gives them a way to quantify it, Recob said. Findorff plans to have a celebration for all employees if it hits the goal of volunteering for 120 organizations, she said.

“I think we’re going to hit our goals,” she said. “No problem.”
