MILWAUKEE (AP) – Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker made the strongest statement yet by a county official about what caused a concrete panel to fall from a parking structure and kill a teenager.

Walker said no evidence has surfaced suggesting any cause for the June 24 accident other than the method of attachment of the 13-ton slab. Jared Kellner, 15, died and two others were injured.

Joshua Levy, the lawyer for the precast concrete firm that built and installed the panels, tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that it’s premature to say the investigation has reached any conclusions.

Levy, who represents Advance Cast Stone, Random Lake, said while some component of the building system failed, it’s not clear that the panel failed.

The accident remains under investigation.
