MILWAUKEE (AP) — A downtown Milwaukee parking garage is reopening Tuesday, about a year after a concrete panel fell from one of its walls and killed a teen.

A 13 1/2-ton facade slab fell off O’Donnell Park parking garage on June 24, 2010, killing 15-year-Jared Kellner and injuring two others.

County officials have said they hoped to get the $5.4 million garage renovation project done in time for this year’s music festival, Summerfest, which starts Wednesday.

Several Milwaukee County supervisors toured the garage last week and they say the facility is safe for visitors.
