ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) — An administrative law judge has selected a route for a high-voltage power line through southeastern Minnesota.
Judge Kathleen Sheehy’s recommendation was released Wednesday. The line would be part of the proposed CapX2020 system.
The Post-Bulletin reports the judge recommended the line cross the Zumbro River at Rochester Public Utilities’ Lake Zumbro hydroelectric dam in Wabasha County.
Land consultant Jeff Broberg said he’s “elated” with the recommendation. Broberg represented Oronoco Township in opposing one of the rejected route alternatives.
The ruling concerns a 90-mile CapX2020 segment between Hampton, Minn., and Wisconsin. The 345-kilovolt line is tying together the electrical transmission system in four states.
The judge heard testimony last year at a series of hearings. Her ruling will be forwarded to the Public Utilities Commission for a final vote.
