DETROIT (AP) – The U.S. Forest Service is awarding nearly $3 million to improve the tree canopy and forest cover in the Great Lakes region.

Money for Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, New York, Illinois and Indiana announced Thursday is part of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.
