Cedarburg to gain new art museum

Ozaukee County is welcoming the addition of a new fine arts museum scheduled to open soon in Cedarburg.

The museum will open with 49 paintings previously featured at various Ozaukee Bank locations. The bank was sold to Harris but retained artwork that once hung in the facilities with the intent of starting a fine arts museum. And when the former Coldwell Banker building became available in Cedarburg, an organization associated with the new art museum bought the structure to house collections.

A grant was provided for the building purchase through a trust set up by Ozaukee Bank, known as Ozaukee Bank Gift for the Future. The trust is part of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.

The building is a Victorian-style, three-story structure constructed in 1898, and is located at W63 N675 Washington Ave.

The museum will eventually offer additional exhibition space and will be a home for community events. To volunteer at the museum, or to learn about the museum and programs, email info@cedarburgartmuseum.com.
