A Wisconsin Department of Transportation training program on Thursday received a $395,148 federal grant to train residents to work in engineering and construction jobs.
The grant is part of $6.7 million that was reserved for transportation training in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The money pays for apprenticeships and classes for underrepresented or disadvantaged people.
The College of Menominee Nation and WisDOT Transportation Alliance for New Solutions training program will receive $200,000. Madison-based Forward Services Corp., which runs a TrANS program with WisDOT, will receive the remaining $195,148.
