The Milwaukee Common Council approved plans to separate historic preservation researchers from the Department of City Development.
Aldermen Robert Bauman, Nik Kovac and Tony Zielinski this month proposed moving the two historic preservation planners from DCD to the city clerk’s office. The aldermen are concerned historic planners cannot argue for or against granting historic protections to buildings that are slated for redevelopment.
The proposal to move the staff passed on a 10-3 vote.
