A joint venture titled Milwaukee Constructors LLC was the lone company to submit a proposal to do emergency repairs to three Zoo Interchange bridges.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation on Nov. 19 released an RFP for the estimated $12- to $22-million project. Proposals were due Monday afternoon.
The state will judge the proposal based upon its cost, ability to minimize traffic problems, schedule and the number of hours worked by apprentices and workers living in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine, Kenosha and Washington counties.
WisDOT set a May 24, 2010, deadline for contractors to complete the project, and the builder will be fined $10,000 for every day the project extends beyond that date.
