IUOE Local 139 training director wins national award

The International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans announced that Daniel Sperberg, training director for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 139, is its recipient of the 2010 Excellence in Apprenticeship Training award.

Sperberg, who has been the local’s training director since 2004, will receive his award next week at an IFEBP meeting in Las Vegas.

The award honors those who have demonstrated an overall excellence in jointly managed training and education programs.

Terry McGowan, IUOE 139 business manager, said IFEBP made the right call.

“I didn’t know he’d been nominated,” he said. “but I can’t think of anyone who deserves it more.”
