Milwaukee-area contractors are not experiencing the swine flu problems that are fueling the effort to require paid sick leave at businesses.

Both sides of the sick-leave debate are pressuring Milwaukee officials as they consider whether the city should join the appeal against a court decision rejecting the law.

Federal proposals and the promise of an appeal mean sick-leave requirements did not die when a Milwaukee judge rejected the city’s law.

The Milwaukee Metropolitan Association of Commerce on Friday won its sick leave lawsuit when a judge declared the city law unconstitutional.

Federal sick-leave bill would grant up to seven days annually
Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., on Monday introduced a federal bill that would require workers to receive sick leave.
