Uniform standards for the placement and operation of wind turbines were sent on Monday by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to the Legislature for action.

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin is sticking to a firm Sept. 1 deadline to propose wind turbine placement rules despite calls from local governments to wait.

A $20 million wind farm proposed for Springfield hinges on whether Sun Prairie-based WPPI Energy will buy electricity and eventually acquire the project.
