Much-anticipated construction bid packages for the $975 million Vikings stadium project are expected to hit the streets this summer as the project team gears up for a planned October groundbreaking.
It was late in the process that the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority and Vikings officials decided that $975 million was not enough to build a football stadium with both a retractable roof and the other amenities they wanted.
As businesses owned by minorities and women continue to fight for construction jobs, governmental bodies from the White House on down have made sure those businesses are guaranteed a fair shake in getting the chance to work on public projects.
