The Milwaukee Historic Preservation Commission next month will decide whether or not to grant historic protection to the Sydney Hih building.

David Florsheim, partner in Milwaukee-based Sydney Hih Development LLC, which owns both buildings, said a law firm and retail tenants are considering moving into the buildings at 300 W. Juneau Ave. in Milwaukee. He asked the Milwaukee Historic Preservation Commission on Monday for more time to work out plans and financing for preserving all, or some, of the buildings that comprise Sydney Hih.

But the commission on Monday asked Sydney Hih Development to return next month with a list of potential development scenarios. The commission agreed to make a final decision on whether to preserve parts of Sydney Hih at its next meeting.
