Dane County proposes 13 clean-water projects (3:17 p.m. 7/13/09)

Dane County leaders announced Monday the county submitted proposals for 13 clean-water projects eligible for federal stimulus money.

The projects — in the cities of Madison, Sun Prairie and Fitchburg; the villages of DeForest, Mount Horeb, Maple Bluff and Shorewood Hills; and the towns of Middleton and Dunn — would reduce storm-water runoff and help keep pollutants out of local waterways.

Dane County is vying for a share of $106 million for clean-water projects made available to Wisconsin under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will determine how the money is distributed.
