U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack Tuesday announced more money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for forest service projects in 36 states.

Wisconsin’s cut of the money is roughly $3.3 million.

The money will help restore natural resources and improve public safety in addition to creating job opportunities in economically distressed areas.

In addition to the $94.6 million available for forest service projects, $49 million will be provided for capital improvement and maintenance projects that include facility improvements, maintenance and rehabilitation, as well as roads and trails maintenance and decommissioning.
