State Sen. Bob Jauch, D-Poplar, and state Rep. Nick Milroy, D-Superior, Tuesday lauded an announcement by Gov. Jim Doyle of a $2 million harbor assistance grant to support a dock wall repair project at Gavilon Grain in Superior.

The $2 million represents 80 percent of the costs of the project, which will allow Gavilon
to make substantial repairs to a deteriorating dock wall.

The state earlier this year also awarded the third-largest harbor assistance grant to date of $3.7 million to Fraser Shipyards in Superior to assist with a harbor expansion project.

Work on the Gavilon Grain dock is expected to be completed this winter.
