Wisconsin bill clears NFL’s path to Lambeau (1:35 p.m. 9/22/09)

Madison (AP) — Wisconsin lawmakers have cleared the road to Lambeau Field.

The state Senate passed a bill that allows police to escort any vehicle processions through red lights.

Police asked for the bill to clarify whether they could escort processions through stoplights. The Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton, where Green Bay Packer opponents, stay, wanted the bill, too, to ensure teams get a smoother ride to Lambeau and keep coming to the hotel.

The Senate approved the measure on a voice vote. The state Assembly passed the bill in June. It goes next to Gov. Jim Doyle, who can sign it into law or veto it.
