The Dane County Board of Supervisors will begin deliberations on the 2010 budget at 7 p.m. Monday.
County Executive Kathleen Falk has called the budget, now estimated at $489 million, one of sacrifice, that includes payment cuts for employees and lesser dollars for land purchases and road construction than previous budgets.
The county took a hard financial hit earlier this year when its national bond rating dropped from AAA to AA status due to the dwindling resources in the reserve, or “rainy day” budget. Some county board members have said the budget does not go far enough to repair that problem.
