WisDOT to hold Highway 20 corridor hearings

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s southeast region will hold two public information meetings to discuss the planning study for the Highway 20 corridor.

The corridor extends from Highway 12 (about ten miles east of Whitewater) to Highway 31 in Racine.

The meetings are scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Waterford Public Library, 101 N. River St., and 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the East Troy Middle School Auditorium, 3143 Graydon Ave.

The study will identify possible short- and long-term improvements along the corridor. It will include an analysis of state and local transportation systems, environmental resources, access points and intersections, bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, and surrounding land use.

The study will identify locations where safety and congestion problems exist or are expected to emerge. Ultimately, a report will be developed with recommendations for improvements.
