MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state spent 3 percent less on contractual services in the fiscal year that ended on June 30.
That’s according to a report submitted to the state Legislature’s budget committee by the Department of Administration.
According to the report, state agencies spent about $319 million on contracts with private vendors last year, which is 3 percent less than the $327 million spent the previous year.
Contracting by the University of Wisconsin System was also down 3 percent.
State workers who have been ordered to take eight unpaid days of furlough this year and next have expressed concerns that contracting will go up to cover that loss of state resources.
