Wisconsin officials: Stay home when storm hits (11:53 a.m. 12/7/09)

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin emergency officials say the state could see blizzard-like conditions over the next two days.

A storm moving toward the state is expected to dump up to a foot of snow in some places Tuesday into Wednesday. And then it will get worse. Wednesday is expected to pack 40 mph to 50 mph winds.

State emergency officials want people to stay home and stay off the roads. People who must travel should prepare an emergency supply kit for their vehicles and monitor their local media for storm updates.

Travelers can check road conditions by calling 511 or by visiting the state Transportation Department’s Web site.
