The Wisconsin Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee on Friday approved monies from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for transit projects in Central Wisconsin, according to a press release from the office of State Sen. Julie Lassa, D-Stevens Point.
Adams County received $38,000, the City of Wisconsin Rapids received $75,000 and the City of Marshfield received $24,000 in federal Recovery Act money for capital improvements and purchases related to the provision of transit services.
The projects were among 24 Recovery Act-sponsored non-urban transit projects presented by Gov. Jim Doyle to the Joint Finance Committee for approval on Friday.
The money will be used for the purchase of transit vehicles and equipment and the construction of transit facilities, the release said.
