Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk announced Wednesday the county is accepting applications for two public/private grant programs to support projects that improve and protect land and water resources.
The Capital Equipment Grant Program will make awards up to $2,500 per applicant to assist with the purchase or rental of equipment or services benefitting Dane County conservation projects. The grants require a dollar-for-dollar match from applicants.
In addition, the Community Partners Grant Program will provide up to $1,000 for small projects that promote environmental education, conservation, and restoration.
The programs, administered by the Dane County Environmental Council, are competitive. Applications are due March 1.
This is the fourth year the grant program has been offered. The county reduced financing for the grant program in its 2010 budget from $26,000 to $6,000.
