Funeral services set for Jackson Square worker killed in fall

A funeral will be held Saturday for Gary John Meyer of Waukesha, who died Monday after falling from the top of an elevator shaft in Milwaukee’s Third Ward.

Meyer, 46, was a carpenter working for HIP Inc., a subcontractor on the Jackson Square housing project in Milwaukee, according to Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office records. Meyer died after falling 30 feet from an elevator shaft on the project at 10:36 a.m. on Monday, according to records. According to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s office, Meyer was the owner of HIP Inc.

A visitation will be held for Meyer from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Anthony on the Lake Church, W280 N2101 Hwy SS in Pewaukee. Funeral services begin at 2 p.m. at St. Anthony.

Instead of flowers, Meyer’s family asked that donations be sent to a college fund established for Gary Meyer’s child, Sydney Meyer, at M&I Bank in Delafield.
