SCHOFIELD, Wis. (AP) — The man critically injured in a chemical accident at a Schofield manufacturer earlier this week has died.
Fire officials say 31-year-old Eric Simpson was burned by scalding liquid used to strip paint from metal at Quality Surface Processing Tuesday.
The Iowa National Guard, for which Simpson was a chaplain, tells WAOW-TV that he had died from his injuries. Simpson had been hospitalized at University Hospital’s burn center in Madison.
OSHA investigators are looking into whether possible safety issues led to the accident.
Simpson is survived by his wife and two children.
