MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A University of Wisconsin project that would include a new ice arena, locker room and team room functions for men’s and women’s hockey and swimming programs has been delayed until further notice.
UW-Madison Athletics Director Barry Alvarez said the delay is due to funding and it wouldn’t be responsible in the current economic climate to proceed until the university is ready.
The new building would be connected to both the Kohl Center and the Southeast Recreational Facility. It would include a hockey arena that would serve as the women’s team competition and practice rink and a practice surface for the men’s team.
The facility would also have a variety of locker room, athletic training, meeting and office spaces for the hockey and swimming programs.
