The Wisconsin Department of Commerce on Tuesday announced that Dick Leinenkugel is resigning as secretary, effective Friday.
A press release issued by the department said he was leaving to pursue another opportunity.
Leinenkugel thanked Gov. Jim Doyle in a statement for the opportunity to serve as secretary.
“I know the team at Commerce will continue to drive economic growth while promoting safe and healthy communities,” Leinenkugel said in the statement.
Leinenkugel replaced Jack Fischer, who resigned as secretary in 2008. Fischer had replaced Mary Burke, who resigned as secretary in 2007.
