MENASHA, Wis. (AP) — Menasha City Parks and Recreation Director Brian Tungate says redeveloping the former Gilbert Paper mill waterfront site will provide a boost to the area.
The Post-Crescent of Appleton reports that Tungate understands his vision is challenging because of the unsettled economy and limited financial resources available through the city.
The concept plan includes development of a recreational trail and converting the bypass channel that flows under the mill for potential future whitewater recreation uses.
Tungate said that they want to create an active outdoor destination and create a walking loop with downtown.
