MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Madison-area developer Terrence Wall has confirmed he is dropping out of the Republican race for U.S. Senate.
He released a statement Thursday saying he wants to stay in the race but he feels the honorable thing to do is exit.
The statement doesn’t specify why he’s dropping out. Still, the move isn’t a complete surprise.
Oshkosh businessman Ron Johnson easily won the state party’s endorsement during its convention Sunday in Milwaukee. That was a blow to Wall, whose campaign never really gained momentum following reports that he had not owed any income tax for nine of the past 10 years.
Watertown businessman Dave Westlake remains in the Republican field. Dick Leinenkugel dramatically bowed out of the race at the state convention on Sunday.
