State loan will help Wis. yacht maker add 315 jobs

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Jim Doyle says a $1.5 million state loan will help a northeastern Wisconsin yacht maker add 315 jobs.

Doyle said the loan, from the Community Development Block Grant program run by the Department of Commerce, will go to Marquis Yachts, LLC.

The firm once known as Carver Yachts is a premiere builder of world class yachts marketed. Its parent company had filed for bankruptcy last year, which shut down production for months.

Earlier this year, the started building boats under new ownership and the Marquis Yachts name and hiring back workers.

A number of the new jobs will involve manufacturing the yachts at the company’s facility in Pulaski.
