Road crews will begin work to improve County Highway K, north of Middleton, on Monday.
The resurfacing project between County Highway M and Q is being paid for through a combination of federal stimulus money secured by Dane County along with county property tax dollars. The total cost of the project is $800,000, with $600,000 of that being federal stimulus money.
Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk said to date Dane County has secured about $25 million in stimulus money for improvements to the Dane County Regional Airport and various roads and bridges. Another busy thoroughfare, County Highway MS (University Avenue) between Segoe Road and Shorewood Boulevard, is currently being reconstructed with federal stimulus money.
County Highway K between Highways M and Q will be closed during the project with access maintained to local businesses.
A marked detour route will be in place for the duration of the project which is expected to be completed next month, according to a press release.
