MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin state Treasurer Dawn Marie Sass will be looking to connect residents with unclaimed property in five counties this month.
Sass plans to be in Adams, Marquette, and Green Lake counties on Wednesday and in Waushara and Winnebago counties on June 24. There is nearly $6 million worth of unclaimed property in those five counties alone.
The state’s Unclaimed Property Department returned almost $27 million in unclaimed property to Wisconsin residents last year.
The state sometimes ends up with people’s money in the form of uncashed paychecks, stock dividends or inheritances. But often people don’t file claims for that money because they don’t know about it.
