Feds announce Mississippi River projects

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Federal officials say they’ll help pay for 75 conservation projects within the Mississippi River basin.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, it will provide $30 million and technical assistance for initiatives in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

The projects are designed to control nitrogen and phosphorus runoff from agricultural land.
