EPA says Manitowoc, Door counties now meet smog standards

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 has approved requests from Wisconsin to re-designate Manitowoc and Door counties as reaching acceptable levels of smog.

The EPA reviewed three years of outdoor air monitoring data for 2006, 2007 and 2008 as part of the analysis to determine whether the areas meet the standard. Complete quality assured monitoring data for 2009 show that the areas continue to meet the standard.

The EPA also approved motor vehicle emission budgets for Manitowoc and Door counties.
