Heavy rain closes bridges, roads in western Wis.

ELLSWORTH, Wis. (AP) — Strong thunderstorms left bridges and roadways washed out in western Wisconsin.

In St. Croix County, 911 center director Casey Swetlik said nearly 20 roadways and nine bridges were impassable Tuesday night because of flash flooding.

Swetlik said residents of a nursing home in Baldwin were evacuated to the local hospital. No one was injured.

In Pierce County, sheriff’s officials have closed Highway 63 south of Highway 29 and Highway 29 west of Highway 63. Deputies evacuated some homes in Martell and El Paso along the Rush River because of rising water.
