Are you ready for some football (in a new stadium)?

By Keith Barber

It began in January of 2010 with the Kenosha Unified School District No. 1 approving space to construct a new Bradford High School stadium in Kenosha.

A 13-acre, district-owned land parcel southwest of Bullen Middle School was put aside by the School Board for the stadium project. The stadium will be primarily for football, but will also house track and soccer programs.

All money for the proposed $5 million stadium will be raised privately through fundraising efforts starting on Nov. 1. A volunteer fundraising committee is now being formed.

For information on how to participate on a committee or to make a donation, call coordinator Steve Knecht, assistant principal for athletics at Bradford High School, at (262) 359-6189. To donate, you can write a check payable to Education Foundation of Kenosha, c/o Educational Support Center, 3600 52nd St., Kenosha, WI 53144, or send to Bradford High School, 3700 Washington Road, Kenosha, WI 53144.

This project has no construction timeline yet, and is dependent on successful fundraising efforts.
