I-94 road work ramping up over weekend

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will close major ramps and roads this weekend as the $1.9 billion Interstate 94 project continues in Milwaukee.

The Airport Spur leading westbound from the airport to I-94 will be closed at 5 p.m. Friday and will reopen at 5 a.m. Saturday.

On Sunday, northbound traffic on I-94 will be moved onto a new roadway east of the current traffic lanes. The new lanes will be opened from about College Avenue to Layton Avenue on Sunday morning, according to WisDOT. A new roadway will open from Layton Avenue to Howard Avenue south of Milwaukee on Tuesday.

Rawson Avenue will also be closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

North of that project, eastbound I-894/43 will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 4:30 a.m. Saturday at Loomis Road.

The ramp from eastbound I-894/43 to South 27th Street will also be closed next week, starting at 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
