The rehabilitation project started in July. The bridge is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic while remaining open to river traffic. The $3,956,749 worth of rehabilitation work will include replacement of structural steel components, decking, walkways and railings, replacement of mechanical lift components, upgrade of operating systems, repairs of concrete piers, sandblasting and painting, and associated approach work and street paving. The project is expected to wrap up by June 2011. (Staff photo by Kevin Harnack)
