MILWAUKEE (AP) — Flood victims in Milwaukee and Grant counties can apply for financial help to pay for food.
Flood victims affected by heavy rains this summer can apply for one-time funding through a federal foodshare program.
Wisconsin’s program is being administered by the state Department of Health Services.
DHS spokesman Seth Boffeli said the program helps ensure that people who spent their savings on repairs can still afford food. He said some victims might be at a higher income level but if they suffered heavy losses they could be in serious need.
According to Wisconsin Public Radio, flood victims have until Wednesday to apply for aid.
Grant County is in the southwest corner of the state.
