MADISON, Wis. (AP) — New road signs that welcome travelers to Wisconsin say “Open for Business,” the motto of new Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
The signs he unveiled Tuesday with those words on it replace those at border crossings that had the name of former Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle. Walker has repeatedly used the motto “Wisconsin is open for business” ever since he won election in November, saying he will push for tax cuts and other changes to improve the state’s economy.
Walker said along with the symbolic nature of the signs, there will be substantive changes with how Wisconsin state government treats job creators.
The 23 new signs will cost about $1,500.
