MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The public is getting another chance to comment on how far energy-generating wind turbines must be located from nearby homes.
A special legislative committee that is looking at changing the current rule is holding a hearing on the issue Wednesday.

The hearing comes after the Republican-controlled Legislature decided against taking up a bill that would have mandated the distance be increased. Gov. Scott Walker pushed for the bill but lawmakers decided not to take it up after numerous concerns were raised over the negative impact it would have on the wind turbine industry.
Instead of passing a bill, the Legislature is now starting the process of instead changing the Public Service Commission rule.
