GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — There’s another challenger in the possible recall election against Democratic Sen. Dave Hansen of Green Bay.
Wind farm developer David VanderLeest, from Coleman, ran the effort to recall Hansen and is now running against him. Hansen joined Democrats in leaving the state in February to try to block passage of Gov. Scott Walker’s measure to end collective bargaining for most public employees.
The Government Accountability Board plans to certify the recall petitions next week. If there are enough signatures, a primary will be held six weeks later.
The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports Republican State Rep. John Nygren, of Marinette, and Brown County Board Vice Chairwoman Mary Scray also intend to run.
Three Democrats and six GOP senators are targeted for recalls for their opposition or support of Walker’s bill.
